Find a sense of support and renewal

TAP TO
EXPAND

Friendly and diverse, there’s an easy air of camaraderie among the residents. You’ll find them in the dining room, by the fountain tending to the roses, or on the hiking trail. Seeking the restorative energy of the sea, they’ve brought their great histories with them and some have started afresh.

Happenings & Highlights

  • Cards & Games

Put your game face on and enjoy some bridge, bunco, poker, dominoes, table tennis, pool, bingo, and more. Many groups meet weekly, with the bridge players meeting more often in our ocean view lower lounge.

  • Tuesday Night Music

On Tuesday evenings, professional musicians come and play a one-hour concert for residents, from cabaret and jazz, to contemporary and classical.

  • Wii Bowling

The Sizzlers, our ladies Wii Bowling Team, and Casa on the Go, our men’s team, compete in every National Senior League season and play weekly. Come check out their championship trophies.

  • Performing & Fine Arts

Residents meet weekly to rehearse theatre scripts in the Casa Theatre Group, barbershop tunes in the Casa Chorale, and play chords on the Ukulele with the Casa Strummers. The Casa Art Studio beckons artists of many mediums, and a revolving exhibition of resident art graces two Casa hallways. The Timken Museum of Art in Balboa Park leads monthly Art Talks.

  • UC San Diego at Casa

Residents build relationships with UCSD students in the Life Course Scholars Program, Human Development Program, and Public Health Club’s Intergenerational Sector. Students visit regularly for internships, discussion groups, workshops, singing with the Casa Chorale, for holidays and special events.

  • The Casa Club

This resident organization, representing all residents in the Casa community, features more than 20 resident-run committees and welcomes all. From running the Casa library, to the food committee, landscape committee, aquarium committee, to the resident newsletter committee, there is something for everyone.

  • Spiritual Expression

The beautiful Casa chapel is the venue for many activities, from our weekly Vespers services, our Freethinkers Group meetings, and more. We host guided meditation, host an annual Seder, bring in speakers and faith leaders from many traditions and denominations, and offer Bible study, world religion classes, Buddhist series, and more.

  • Great Decisions

America’s largest discussion program on world affairs is screened in our movie theatre, and discussion is led by our many well-informed and curious Casa residents.

  • Book Club

Residents read a book a month and share their insights.

Together.

A powerful sense of camaraderie fills our neighborhood. Residents love to engage with one another—creating new opportunities to share passions and discoveries. Whether it’s over a yoga class in the courtyard or a discussion in the resident-run library, the people who call Casa de Mañana home are always finding new ways to connect and thrive.

Participate, volunteer, or make a donation

For residents, by residents

Our communities are full of passionate people. To celebrate that, we started Shine!, a life enrichment program. It’s all about getting in touch with the passions and unique skills of the individuals who make up our communities and giving everyone the space to be a teacher … and a student. Through this program, we invite everyone to tell us what is important and interesting to them, and then we make those experiences happen.

Volunteer

Help run the Newcomers Committee–or bring your expertise to event planning or care giving. Whatever your specialty or passion is, your assistance is greatly appreciated. Having residents and locals as volunteers is the best way to get people engaged and ensure that Casa de Mañana stays true to the people who live here.

If you’re interested in learning more about the variety of opportunities here, please contact Life Enrichment Director Kelly Hillegeist at 858-456-4329 or via email at khillegeist@frontporch.net.

Make a donation

Fiscal responsibility is one of our core values at Front Porch, so we require our operations to carry themselves financially. This means that every donation makes a true impact in the lives of our residents and our overall community.
